Big announcement for 2014 is that James Strawbridge star of ITV's 'The Hungry Sailors' and the forthcoming 'Saturday Farm' is coming to open the show, cook some of his favourite food, and judge the Kotlich Pot Cooking Competition.
James has already established himself as a writer and presenter, and has recently started his own food company so knows all about the demands of running a small high quality food business. Also confirmed for 2014 are the Easy Peasy Children's Cooking Bus who made such a hit in 2013, with full sessions of children learning to cook throughout the day. Also coming in 2014 is Martin Blake and his wonderful Whiskey River Quartet. We have wanted to have Martin to play at the fair for some years, but this is the first year that his busy schedule has allowed this to happen.
Our final announcement is that both entry and stall prices will remain the same for 2014 as we are conscious that budgets - both household and company - are still under strain. We will also remain one of the few fairs anywhere to allow in young people under 16 free of charge. This is part of Carolyn's strong commitment to get children cooking, a commitment which will also be in evidence throughout the year, when the Easy Peasy Cooking bus visits schools throughout the area under the auspices of the Mortimer Country Food Fair, to bring cooking fun to children of all ages. This initiative is being funded by the National Lottery, and we are once again grateful to them for the support they have given to the fair.
So lots and lots to look forward to for 2014. Put the 12th of July in your diary now !
